Do you struggle in relationships?

November 6, 2026 Anne Feeney

Over the years, I have worked with individuals dealing with the following issues:

  • Perhaps you don’t seem able to make long-term relationships work or can’t meet the right person? This may be leaving you feeling anxious, painfully isolated and worthless at times desperately wanting the safety and love of a healthy relationship.

  • Or are you married but your relationship is marred by repetitive miscommunication, anger or trust issues? Perhaps you don’t feel accepted or understood, leaving you feeling abandoned and upset - lost as to how to repair things.

Together we can explore and make sense of this. Often our relationship patterns are inherited or due to unconscious adaptations we made to survive challenging childhoods or traumatic life circumstances. These kept us safe but their inflexibility and hidden nature can, derail us. Stopping us from being able to make good choices for ourselves or find our inner centre of gravity. If you would like to work deeply on these issues I’m here to help you.

Difficult family members

Are you struggling with family conflict or difficult family members? Over the years, I have worked with individuals navigating such issues, for example:

  • Narcissistic relationships: Perhaps someone close to you - a parent or a partner - is narcissistic. This can mean the relationship is always about them. You’re having to be there for them, and meeting their needs leaves no room for you to be seen and have your needs met.

You may have tried to branch out, only for your independence to be met with their disapproval or intense distress. The resulting conflict and guilt can be incredibly difficult to understand and bear.

  • Unavailable or disinterested family members: Alternatively, you may have a family member who is emotionally unavailable, perhaps due to their own struggles with anxiety, depression or substance dependency. Even when you feel they love you, their behaviour can leave you feeling abandoned and struggling with low self-worth.

Together, we can explore and make sense of these difficult family patterns which may have their roots in family history and/or intergenerational trauma. We can mourn the hurt these experiences have caused and support you in finding your own voice and moving towards becoming your own person.

Work related issues

Are you struggling with work related issues? Over the years I have worked with individuals on the following areas.

  1. You might be a high performer whose chronic over-achievement maybe leading you to burn-out, as well as hurting your relationships and your health.

  2. Or you might be navigating a work culture that feels toxic – where you are struggling to assert your own authority or be seen for the talented individual you are.

  3. Or are you a people-pleaser straining under the weight of your own inability to push back, feeling over responsible, and carrying too much on your shoulders.

It may seem like you just need a career change but these issues may well be rooted in your unconscious. Inherited patterns or adaptations you created unconsciously to help you survive a challenging childhood or traumatic life circumstances. These kept you safe but now they maybe stopping you from finding your own centre of gravity and inner peace. I work in partnership with clients who want to move beyond surface-level symptoms to explore underlying patterns that are derailing them.
