Are you struggling with family conflict or difficult family members? Over the years, I have worked with individuals navigating such issues, for example:
Narcissistic relationships: Perhaps someone close to you - a parent or a partner - is narcissistic. This can mean the relationship is always about them. You’re having to be there for them, and meeting their needs leaves no room for you to be seen and have your needs met.
You may have tried to branch out, only for your independence to be met with their disapproval or intense distress. The resulting conflict and guilt can be incredibly difficult to understand and bear.
Unavailable or disinterested family members: Alternatively, you may have a family member who is emotionally unavailable, perhaps due to their own struggles with anxiety, depression or substance dependency. Even when you feel they love you, their behaviour can leave you feeling abandoned and struggling with low self-worth.
Together, we can explore and make sense of these difficult family patterns which may have their roots in family history and/or intergenerational trauma. We can mourn the hurt these experiences have caused and support you in finding your own voice and moving towards becoming your own person.
